The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure & Transport of South Korea announced on September 3 that it holds Global Infrastructure Cooperation Conference (GICC) 2017 from September 4 to 6 at the COEX Intercontinental Hotel located in Seoul.

The annual international conference has been held since 2013 so that South Korean companies can make inroads into overseas construction markets with ease. Via the four conferences in the past, those companies and the South Korean government shared their future project plans and infrastructure development plans and expanded their networks with figures invited from ordering countries such as ministers and vice ministers.

The upcoming fifth conference is expected to be attended by more than 1,500 participants from 250 or so South Korean companies and the six multilateral development organizations including the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) as well as 147 high-ranking figures from 86 ordering agencies located in 46 countries around the world.

During the period, Land, Infrastructure & Transport Minister Kim Hyun-mi is scheduled to meet with the Deputy Prime Minister of Libya, Ethiopian and Omani ministers, etc. They are planning to discuss mutual cooperation in the field of construction and infrastructure development.
